As part of the DIY guitar pedal, I was considering the opportunity to etch my own PCB without going through the cumbersome and rather polluting process of perchlorate bath....
Another way is using a saline solution and an etcher. It does not require much more than a DC transformer, and can be slightly enhanced to etch or mark, depending on the objective (wanna mark your knives? or a nice metal cup ? It's the easiest way.).
Basically, what I need is an old transformer (well, I've got a few looted from various old radios...) a switch 2PDT to be able to chose between AC and DC (mark or engrave) and two banana jack to plug in cathode and anode. Just to be "rather" clean, an on-off switch, and an IEC socket to have everything clean.
So I made an enclosure in 3D to have everything nice and clean, re-using a messed up top of my old Game of throne storage boxes (upcycling!) and I asked Seb to print it so it is now ready :)
To have something a bit cleaner and adjusted, we also made a ring out of the top, which turned out to be .... nicer than expected!
Next step of the DIY Big Muff is ahead! Etching the PCB!
