Since I got my 3D Printer, I have been learning a lot.

The best way to learn is by doing, right? :)

I wanted to figure out what are the best clearances for hinges and the ideal geometry of snap hooks and did a lot of tinkering. To test the assumptions I made, I designed a 3D Puzzle with a nice traveling case (well.. it is pretty rough for now, but hopefully will be "nice" in the end). If this works, I will apply this set of techniques for creating the map of the whole North America. For now, this is CANADA:

I have only 4 colors currently for my filaments, so I am thinking of printing the box in blue (ocean color), US in silver, and Canada's provinces in white and red, like our flag.

Update

The first prototype is ready and it works. I just need to get some blue on the white provinces for the names and lakes.
