Hi everyone,

Today i want to share with you a personal project using radio controlled sailing boat. 

The boat

There is an international class such boat named IOM (stand for International One Meter). The boats are one meter long radio controlled sailed boats, the sails are 1.8m meter high and the keel (part in the water) is 0.40 m long.

The rules

Boats design are driven by rules defining some constraints on the shape of the hull, volume, some equipments but giving a chance to each sailor to tune the boat. There are a lot of details around the mast & sail connections which require to set several small 3D pieces.

This is the case of the mastfoot which look like this:

 The bottom piece uses to break with level of loads. thanks to 3DEXPERIENCE Lab, there is now a new bottom piece to be tested soon in windy conditions !

Next 

This is for now the final touch before taking part to the world championship this Fall in Australia !

Some other parts of the boat are under optimisation with 3D scan done offering ability to explore effect of a given volume of the performance of the boat !
