Prosthetic Hand for Disabled Kid

Goal

Together with Sébastien Rosel, we start a project which intent is to 3D printed hand.

We'll update this post as soon as we progress, but here is the expected result :

The idea here is to 3Dprint an existing model, available in open-source, in order to assess the complexity of the process and the quality of the model. Once we will have prepared and assembled the first hand, than we will try to get in touch with some french association, here in Paris, looking for some tailor made hands for real patients.

Model :Raptor Reloaded

We will start from the Raptor Reloaded model, available here :

 http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:596966

The Raptor Reloaded is an updated release of the original that incorporates feedback from the e-NABLE community and has CAD design source files available in STEP, IGES, IPT, and F3D formats.

Let's start

Let's start from the CAD file

There is 31 parts to print and assemble

Here is some images of the project as it is progressing

After a couple of hours of printing and test (we think we can print all the hand in about 2 days), we can assemble the hand

There is now a couple of other parts to assemble, not 3D printed, like elastic, screws, foam... that will be done next week

After a short break and a trip to the mall, to buy screws and elastics, here is the result :

This first hand is now done

and here is a short movie to summarize and show the hand in action
