Happy New Year to the makers community!
During the holiday seasons, I happened to visit my parents-in-law who just bought "santons" for nativity but failed to find an adequate Nativity crib for them. As I got a few days off and time to spare in front of me, I decided to design a simple one at the right scale made of wood (balsa & basswood) I could find for a very cheap price at the local store.
Here are some pictures taken during the process:
Construction starting
I could not make it on time for Christmas but it was completed by the 28th so still worthy enough for this year.
For the design process, I used xApps on web for the complete design, except for the scale 1:1 drawing I needed to facilitate the construction work. For that, I quickly generated them with CATIA Native Drawing app.
Design time: ~3h
Construction time: ~2h (without the drying process)
Material budget: ~8 dollars (mostly bass wood & balsa + a 1\$ LED candle in the back for illumination)
Please notice that the religious aspect is not the point here and this tiny project motivated me to think about other miniature building design (as my experience relies much more on RC balsa airplane up until now).
