After decades of using our miter saw on a variety of sub-par surfaces, Chinloo and I finally upgraded to a massive, custom built miter station! We've used the saw on the floor, set up on saw horse, and on random furniture, like you see here.
In every case, we've had to makeshift material support with roller stands, or random blocks of wood, and clamp an array of scraps to the saw to set up for repeat cuts.
So we used SOLIDWORKS for Makers to model a massive 14.5 ft. (4.5 m) long miter station.
We used the built in data management tools to capture different revisions of the design before we settled on the one we liked best.
Now our miter saw station is something we can be proud of:
