Mechatronics Fun with Arduino and SOLIDWORKS!

The Arduino platform is a great way to learn the basics of mechatronics, electronics, and coding. I thought I would use SOLIDWORKS to design my version of the collision avoidance car! (this is a very popular project and there are many renditions of it out there). Check out the pics and renderings of this fun build!

I started by modeling the parts that I purchased for the car. This way, I can include them in the assembly as I design the chassis, frame, and mounts for circuit boards, servo, lights, and motors. (the image below shows only the purchased parts, with the parts I designed hidden).

With all the purchased parts hidden, what is left are the parts of the car I designed and 3D printed.

Of course, I had to do a bit of soldering to make up the wiring harness for the lights and I also needed to add some extra pin connections to the L239D motor shield board. The completed car turned out awesome!!
