MacBook charger protector

Hello there,

Today we are talking about the MagSafe (Macbook charger) which is beautifully designed, but also designed to break.

The MagSafe easily broke in time. I have experienced it twice in 3-4 years. And since the price of the charger is at least 60\$ or euros I thought it might me good to find a solution.

I have found many solutions on the web but most are not beautiful and some of them report the breaking point to another point of the cable.

One solution that I tried (and found on the web) on my Apple Lighting charger (iPhone charger) was to insert a pen spring on the cable:

I tried it but one side broke even if the spring was here. I think the idea is here, a little team published an interesting project which goal is to build a tough spring for Apple cables https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/ivy-apple-lightning-protection-for-your-cable#/

The idea is to have a device that allow the cable to keep it flexibility but this device should be a little rigid to save the cable from broken.

This is what I would like to do with 3D Print (but with plastic this time) :

(I found a likely solution but would like to improve it http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1091637)

PS: I think if the solution works for the MagSafe it could also work with the iPhone/iPad/iPod charger.

PS 2: Here is some solution from thingiverse of the MagSafe protector that maybe solve the problem but not sure
