Looking for ideas on car part creation...

Hello All,

Finally dove into a project sitting in the back of my shop - a 57 TBird rebuild from the ground up! Ripped it down to the last nut and bolt and shipped the body off for some work. Finished stripping the chassis this past week for a sand blast and epoxy undercoat. I just do engines/chassis work so leave that stuff to the experts.

Now I am looking at refinish and reassembly. One issue I need expertise on is the tail light housings. They are rather tired after 68 years and my mom backing into a few things. The outer shape is fine but the underlying mounts are cracked or broken off. Talked to some metal geeks and they felt the old castings were too far gone for any kind of repair. My next thought was maybe to scan/print them in some form of plastic. I could then redesign the mounts in SOLIDWORKS/CATIA. I would assume they would be small enough to fit in some printers envelope but what plastic(s) would be viable for this application and support the car finish? Anybody explored anything like this?
