I use my digital caliper ALL THE TIME. I use it so often that it sits on top of its case rather than in it (cause I hate constantly having to open that case and get it out). 

The answer...a 3D Printed digital caliper stand custom fit for my calipers! This slides nicely under my laptop stand and holds it in such a way that I can easily grab it and place it back on the stand effortlessly! The form fits like a glove!
