B-17G Flying Fortress R/C Aircraft Project

Hey all,

I'm working on a new R/C aircraft project and thought I'd kickoff with some progress pics. I'll post weekly leading up to the release of a full design, build, and test flight video. I've always dreamed of building and flying and R/C version of the B-17 Flying Fortress, an iconic World War II bomber. My favorite movie of all time is Memphis Belle (if you haven't seen it, I recommend checking it out).

Here are some pics of the progress where you will see I have the fuselage design completed, parts printed, and assembled. This one so far has required several hundred design hours given all of the scale details like panel lines, gunner positions, etc. This is a 1/15th scale model which gives it an 83" wingspan and it should have a final flying weight around 11 pounds.

More to come!

FYI, all of the CAD work for this project was done using 3DEXPERIENCE SOLIDWORKS for Makers.  For those that haven't already looked into the 3DEXPERIENCE SOLIDWORKS for Makers Offer,  use this link to get 20% off the monthly subscription:  https://r1132100503382-eu1-my3dexperience.3dexperience.3ds.com/welcome/compass-world/3dexperience-collaborative-innovation/3d-sculptor/buy/offers/Influencer20
