A bald Eagle finds back the use of his own beak with 3D printing
3D printing can solve many issues, and keep on being famous with spectacular technical achievement. Who would have known that 3D printing could have saved a Bird? This is the actual case for beauty a Bald Eagle species that living in North America.
Injured in 2005 caused by a poacher, Beauty has been rescued by an association “Birds of Prey Northwest”. At Frist, the members have started to feed the Eagle through a tube, they quickly realized that the animal couldn’t survive in its native environment, and then they thought about euthanasia.
Jane Fink, raptors specialist, disagreed by dropping out Beauty. He luckily crossed a mechanical engineer path, working at the company Kinetic Engineering Group. The engineer offered him his help by making a prosthetic substitute for Beauty, the raptor injured.Nate Calvin and his team have drawn a model beak with SolidWorks and 3D printed with nylon raw material. After 200 hours, beauty recovering a massive lifelike beak , and she found back the use of the latter.
