My daughter decided she wanted a cover for her backyard firepit so I fired up SOLIDWORKS to doodle a quick design. Once that was sorted out, off to my local marine hardware store for a 4x8 sheet of 1/2" PVC ply and started cutting away. The only variation from the model I created is I decided to see if it was stiff enough without the diagonal ribbing. Turns out it was for the particular diameter she needed. The stainless steel piano hinge down the middle required ribs of course. The design is basically a single part that is inverted and reversed to form both sides with the addition of material along the hinge direction for stiffness and to screw into for the hinge. I have attached the design here if anyone needs to make one and tweak my dimensions for the Fall..
