[3D Printing] Testing 3D Printing in the Fashion World

Hi everyone,

Have you heard about the FashionLab?

FashionLab is Dassault Systèmes’ technology incubator dedicated to fashion designers. It is a kind of innovation lab, at the crossroads of the fashion world and the virtual world, marrying the engineering creativity of Dassault Systèmes with the artistic inventiveness and industry know-how. The research projects driven by FashionLab aim at giving rise to future fashion experiences that will integrate design, simulation and collaboration platform required to create an entire collection.

As part of on-going projects with one of our ambassador, we would like to test some 3D Prints.

Our main objective? Evaluate the possible results, the time, the budget and the work needed to create a 3D Printed object. Another goal of this test is to look at the finishing work on the 3D Print. Will it be enough good looking for the fashion designers? Depending on the result, we will think about integrating 3D Printed accessories in a fashion collection.

To make our test possible, we would like to print this piece of jewel in 3D. This jewel has been designed by our ambassador JAY AHR and 3D modeled by Thierry Rouf, member of FashionLab.

If you want to exchange on our incubation and research projects, or any other innovating topic related to luxury and fashion, please join our FashionLab community, which is dedicated to collaboration and exchanges.
