These are such great fun. I ordered a head(amame) kit from Vector Finesse and I'm just having a gay old time testing these out. I'm a *light* headphone geek and have been hankering for a new pair for a while.
The company sends STL files ready to go for you, but I ended up using the mesh modeling enhancements in SOLIDWORKS 2022 to accommodate for some issues (I needed to add a few chamfers on bed-facing components on the cone to prevent an interference from snapping the entire assembly). I've been going through my usual tests on Jethro Tull's Aqualung, Deastro's album Moondagger, Wolfmother, and Queens of the Stone Age in a few albums.
These are a TON of fun, and I'm delighted having such a neat toy that I was able to make in GoEngineer colors to bring to customer visits, haha!
For other headphone nerds: these use Tymphany 40mm drivers, and I printed these in PETG on my Prusa Mini with my friend printing the headband in BASF Ultrafuse PLA since my bed isn't large enough to accommodate. I went with Brainwavz XL velour earpads instead of the included pleather ones, and I think the effect is substantially improved. They're a little bass heavier than my usual go-tos (Sennheiser HD 58X, AKG 721, HiFiman HE4XX) but they are a delightful set. It doesn't take much to drive them (most phones will do), but they'll take what I can give them out of my amp (Schiit Fulla) and they really benefit from turning the dial up.
