Just FYI, I thought I’d start a quick post/thread on ‘Materials’ and how they are now meant to be utilized in ENOVIA's Engineering Release Management widget as it may not be readily apparent to all. Starting in 2019x FD04, functionality was introduced in Engineering Release widget for adding a ‘Material’ (and Volume) to a Physical Product in your product structure. As we have different schema/types for materials across our products (such as Materials used for calculating material compliance for example), I thought I’d share some clarity on these specific types of Materials.
Add Materials and their Quantity to Engineering Items- 2019 FD04 (FP.1931):
You can now add materials, such as glue or oil, to an engineering item. You can also indicate the quantity and unit of measure. Once added, the material appears in the list of child engineering items. See "Adding Material Quantity."
These are materials that will end up in a finished product, but have no specific CAD associated with them. In a Physical Product’s Details, you can Add (‘+’) a Volume of Material. The Material itself must be created in SIMULIA prior to being able to add it to your Physical Product (so by default OOTB, there are none available to add). Currently, there is no web functionality available to create these Materials (that I’m aware of), so you must do it in the native SIMULIA application.
