In the 3DEXPERIENCE platform, we have various solutions for program and project management to address different aspects of the project management flow and methods.
Let’s walk through the different roles and their positioning:
Collaborative Industry Innovator (CSV)
With Collaborative Industry Innovator (CSV), which is a fundamental role in 3DEXPERIENCE platform, everyone in the organization can participate in a project, work collaboratively with other teams and manage his/her personal ‘To-Do’ list, using the following set of applications:

Collaborative Tasks provides an intuitive user experience for task management, including simple ad-hoc tasks, routes tasks and all project tasks (coming from DPM as well as XPP projects). | |
Project Execution provides a collaborative environment for global project team members to access, manage, and report on their projects’ task assignments. | |
The Project Gantt widget displays the Gantt chart for a selected project. Note: this app supports only projects managed in the Project Manager (DPM) role. |
Note: In 2020X FD01 Project Execution and Project Gantt applications were moved from Project Team Member (DPJ) role to Collaborative Industry Innovator (CSV) role to allow everyone in the organization to participate and contribute to projects.
Project Planner (XPP)
Project Planner (XPP) is designed to address Collaborative teamwork. It supports top down as well as bottom up project management.
Project Planner connects everyone and allows iterative & collaborative planning, execution and monitoring in real time and in a collaborative environment. A powerful Schedule Optimizer engine automatically optimizes the schedule to meet key milestones.
Note: Project Planner role is available on cloud only.

Project Planner, unlike most ENOVIA roles, requires only Collaborative Business Innovator as its pre-requisite. Therefore, to allow everyone to work collaboratively, The Collaborative Tasks widget also is available with Project Planner (XPP) role. |
Project Manager (DPM)
Project Manager (DPM) is a powerful project management tool suited for Project Management Officers to manage massive programs & projects with specific processes, including phases and gates.
Project manager is a specialist role designed for governed project management, allowing PMOs to manage much more than time and schedule, but other aspects of the project like risks, assessments, meetings and notes, making and documenting decisions & checklists, and managing baselines and experiments.
It is available both on cloud and on premise.

Project Management is the key application supporting the Project Manager role. It is a web application that allows PMOs to create & edit projects and programs, work on project scheduling (including creating, editing and assigning tasks), work with gates and deliverables as well as baselines, and manage risks, assessments and experiments. | |
The My Projects widget shows a list of DPM projects that a user belongs to, including project details such as the project name, current phase, progress bar of percentage complete and the number of tasks to be completed. | |
Risk Management provides a simple way for business users to monitor and create risks in the context of a DPM project, task, or task subtype, such as a milestone, gate, or phase. |
Project Portfolio Manager (DPS)
The Program Analytics & Optimization (DPS) role, which has been available since 2021X FD03, combines the Project Manager role with the NETVIBES Project Intelligence Consumer analytics role.
It provides a consolidated view and adds analytics on top of all project data that is already being managed in the 3DEXPERIENCE platform.
Having the analytics layer on top, project managers can answer questions such as:
- What happened, while learning from the past experience
- Why did it happen, by drilling down to the different information
- and then how to improve the situation.
It is available both on cloud and on premise.
