Introduction
ENOVIA offers various review applications that allow you to perform a thorough review. You can review CAD and non-CAD objects, document your review observations (through slides and comments) and raise appropriate actions (Issues/Change Actions/Tasks) on-the-fly to manage resolution with complete traceability.
In this blog, we’ll learn about positioning & comparison of these review applications. Before that, let us understand the fundamentals of these apps.
Review Using 3D Markup App
The 3D Markup is a web app, available within the Collaborative Industry Innovator (CSV) role. Having this app in a fundamental role such as CSV, ensures that it is available for all the stakeholders in the value stream. It allows users to perform quick, lightweight reviews and document observations. You can use text & graphical annotations to highlight specific areas, perform measurements, get sectional views to effectively document review observations in slides & comments.
Review Using Design Review & Design Validation Apps
These apps are available within the specialized roles such as Digital Mockup Review Manager (RED) and Digital Mockup Validation Manager (YED) respectively, which allow you to perform advanced, comprehensive, collaborative, and robust product reviews involving multiple stakeholders.
You can select specific objects for the review, assign review objectives, perform review members management and many more activities for conducting such collaborative review. All the involved members have complete and real-time traceability of all the review elements throughout the review process.
Example: The following image illustrates a generic usecase demonstrating how some of these apps can be used in conjunction to facilitate collaborative review.
- Review Preparation: Prepare the review by defining key elements such as context, validated objects, checks, markups, and members.
- Collaborative Review: Assigned stakeholders collaborate to perform a review and document review observations in form of slides & comments.
- Decision Making: Highlight key observations and raise Issue to initiate the problem resolution through a formal process.
- Issue Delegation & Resolution: Assignees view the assigned Issue and work with their team to fix it.
- Issue Validation & Review Closure: Validate the issue resolution in 3D. Release the review to indicate its successful completion.
Comparison
The following table outlines the differences between these applications, focusing on major capabilities based on the R2025x FD03 release. It does NOT represent a complete list of all capabilities.
