Introduction
Starting from R2026x FD02, a new attribute "Change Method" is introduced, that helps support the different change process needs required for customer deployments:
This attribute has two options that determine the change method that will be applied:
Change Controlled Authoring (set as Default so that customers are not impacted):
This method provides the same current standard behavior that supports Change automation (Draft to In Work) for Revise, Enforced Change control for Work Under authoring and traceability and Change automation (In Approval to Complete) for maturity transitions.
- Released items added as "Proposed Changes" are automatically revised when the Change Action is promoted to In Work.
- Modifications, such as revisions, maturity changes, and structure edits, are captured through the Work Under mechanism in the 'Realized Changes", providing a full change control and a complete traceability.
- In this mode, realized items will be marked as Change Required until the Change Action reaches its Completion status.
- Only these Change Actions will be allowed to be used for Work Under process
Maturity Change (New):
This method is a simplified approach that targets releasing or obsoleting proposed items without requiring Work Under, while deferring the activation of the Change Required status until the associated Change Action reaches the In Approval maturity state.
- Items added as proposed will not be marked as Change Required until the Change Action reaches In Approval.
- Users may continue to work with items in the In Work state, and later on freeze them for approval purpose
- Subsequently, these items will automatically be promoted to Released maturity state upon the approval of the Change Action.
- In the case of rejection, the users can make the required modification of the Items without Work Under process
Once the Change Action is approved, all proposed items will be reflected in the Realized Changes view, and the Change Required attribute, in the item, will be reset to “No.”
The following video illustrates the usage of the new method:
Recommendation:
When selecting the Change Mode "Maturity Change", it is recommended to add items that are already in "Frozen" maturity state, to the "Proposed Changes".
