To avoid having to select a template each time a new drawing is started, set the SmartNew option to use your favorite template.

1.  Tools > Options > System Options

2.  Expand the Open / Save As node

3.  Expand the Template file name for SmartNew node

4.  Click on Browse… and navigate to and highlight your favorite template.

5.  Click Open then OK to exit the Options dialog

Instead of typing NEW to start a new drawing, type SMARTNEW or SNEW at the command prompt… Voila’! No dialog.
