The cursor freezing/ disappearing on the drawing area, is an issue with video cards and DraftSight 2019.
The workaround is to open DraftSight, go to Tools-Options- System Options – Display – Element Colors and enable ‘Use dashed entity selection highlighting’. These options are not computer options but options in DraftSight.
The problem can be caused by the graphics card driver, please try disable and re-enable the video card, please follow the steps below:
1. Open the Device Manager (you can find it by going to the Start menu and typing "Device Manager" into the Search programs and files box.
2. Expand the Display adapters node
3. Right-click on the adapter (e.g. Intel or HP)
4. Click on Disable
5. Try to reproduce the problem.
TIP: Don’t forget to go back and re-enable your display adapter.
If disabling particular graphics adapter helps to resolve the issue then it is most likely due to graphics card hence you need to update that graphics card driver or keep it disabled.
DraftSight is especially sensitive to the video card driver updates, we recommend to download the newest video drivers from the video card manufacturer’s web site.
