Question: When does objects weight is considered in EWD ergonomic risk assessment (Ergo4All)?

Answer: It depends of the sense of the phrase. In the phrase “Get an Object from a Storage Bin”, the manipulated object weight is considered. In this other phrase “Get an Object with a lifting Device” the weight of the part is not considered.

When the weight is considered, where does it come from? By default, the phrase panel will display the declared weight, normally set by the designer. However, it is often not properly settled. Moreover, a user may want to evaluate the risk while varying the weight (what if scenario). Thus, it is possible to change that value manually.

Is there a risk of inconsistency? Whose responsibility is it, the product designer, the manufacturing engineer, or the ergonomist?
