CATIA was present at the 33rd World Design Assembly in Tokyo on October 27, 28 and 29. During this 3-day event, industrial designers, artists, architects, OEMs and many more discussed the future of design from different perspectives.
The theme of the conference this year was “Design Beyond - Design for a New World”, conference that was divided in 4 themes: Humanity, Planet, Technology, and Policy.
At this prestigious design-themed conference, Dassault Systèmes’ Design Studio VP @AA was invited to moderate the session titled “Design for Human-Centered Technology” The session comprised of below academic presentations:
- Dr. Bo Gao – “Integrating Intelligent Agents and Service Design for 3H Care: A Path to SDG3 in Singapore” (Nanyang Technological University)
- Mr. Inho Lee – “Development of Smart Displays with Supportive Tools and Services to Tackle Senior Care Problems” (Korea Institute of Design Promotion)
- Ms. Abigail Hoover – “Outer Space Technology: Harnessing its Potential for Sustainable Life on Earth through Human-Centered, Service, Policy, and Product Innovation” (Royal College of Art & Imperial College London)
- Dr. Nobuhiro Masuda – “Towards Nonhuman-Centered Design: Between Life and Matter” (Kyushu University)
- Ms. Masako Kitazaki – “Co-speculation for Future Personal Data Use- Toward Shared Authorship of Future Technology Use Scenarios among Multi-stakeholders” (Musashino Art University)
- Dr. Luisa Mok – “Using Science Fiction and Design Fiction to Learn AI” (The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology)
On the last day of the assembly, Anne Asensio and the other candidates for the Board of the World Design Organization 2021-2023 received a special round of applause!
Alongside this event, we were also able to take part in the JIDA AXIS Cross Talk on October 30, for a conference about "Designing beyond Mobility". Anne Asensio was invited to discuss with @TY & ItalDesign the future of mobility design from the perspective of "design beyond design", focusing on major and topical themes such as sustainability, safety and accessibility.
