Changes in Certified Configuration for VDI

As per the Certified Configuration for VDI, New vGPU driver version 16.1- 537.13 is validated for most of the VDI configurations. Please refer the Certified Configuration for VDI for more details.

Changes in Browser Version:

As per the Platform Support Policy, for 3DEXPERIENECE Platform on cloud, the most current stable channel release of the Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge Chromium, is a Compatible Platform. For Mozilla Firefox 102esr is a validated and compatible platform. Please upgrade your browsers to the channel releases as per below:

Google Chrome:

The most current stable channel release of the Google Chrome is Version 118.0.5993.118 Official Build for both 64-bit and for 32-bit. Hence your browser version should be greater than or equal to above mentioned channel release to be compatible with platform.

Microsoft Edge Chromium:

The most current stable channel release of the Microsoft Edge Chromium is Version 118.0.2088.69 (Official build) (64-bit). Hence your browser version should be greater than or equal to above mentioned channel release to be compatible with platform.

Cloud Eligibility Checker Tool does take these changes into account, as per below:

Change in Supported Java Version:

As per 3DEXPERIENCE Open Software Requirements, Java Runtime Support Policy has been updated with R2024x GA upgrade. Earlier Java 17.0.3 was a validated and compatible platform, now it has been upgraded to Java 17.0.7.
All the details about these supported Java versions are as per below:

  • IBM Semeru Runtime Open Edition for Java (JDK) 17.0.7 is a Validated Platform
  • IBM Semeru Runtime Open Edition for Java (JDK) 17.0.x with x >7 is a Compatible Platform
  • Oracle JDK 17.0.x, with x>=7, is a Compatible Platform.

You can also refer to 3DS program directory entry from R2024x GA upgrade > Deployment > 3DEXPERIENCE Open Software Requirements > Java Runtime Support Policy.

Change In Command-Line Options:

The Cloud Eligibility Tool offers various command-line options for enhancing user experience and functionality like “-d” option which gives detail encrypted logs. But it has been observed that decrypted logs are more helpful for users than the encrypted one.

So with this latest version of Cloud Eligibility Checker, encryption has been removed from logs and now users can generate detail decrypted logs with “-d” option only.

You can refer below screenshot for the same: CloudEligibility.exe -d

Once the Cloud Eligibility Checker execution is done, complete decrypted log file (CloudEligibilitydDebug-xxxxxx-xxxxxx.log) will get generated in C:\tmp directory. Please ensure that C:\tmp directory is present prior to using this option.

Change in WMIC Command Utility Use:

WMIC command was used in Cloud Eligibility Checker Tool to fetch the HW & SW details about yours machine, but this utility has been marked as deprecated by Microsoft. This utility is superseded by Windows PowerShell for WMI. Cloud Eligibility Checker tool do take this change into account and hence now PowerShell is used with WMI and CIM cmdlets to fetch the HW & SW details about users machine. Please refer official documentation from Microsoft here, for more details.

New Enhancement in Version (1.6.01):

This is a new enhancement added into the Cloud Eligibility Checker Tool (v1.6.01), which will show a warning pop-up message to the user if they are using the outdated version of Cloud Eligibility Checker Tool. It will make sure that user is using latest version of the tool to check eligibility for 3DEXPERIENCE Platform on Cloud.

Workflow:

When user is using outdated or older version of tool,
A pop-up message (refer the image 1.1) will be displayed asking user to choose the options as per below,

In case the user do not have access to the geolocation URL due to some proxy, firewall, VPN, etc. issues, then tool is configured to select Europe (default) datacenter and compute the relevant Network Performances.

Now with this enhancement, the user will be asked to select the relevant data center when the geolocation URL is not accessible.

Workflow:

When users do not have access to the geolocation URL https://geolocation-db.com
A pop message will be displayed (refer to image 2.1), asking the user to choose the options below,

- Click on “YES” to select the relevant datacenter

- Click on “NO” to continue with the Europe (default) datacenter

     (image 2.1)

If the user clicks on “YES”, then a separate dialogue box will appear (refer to image 2.2) which will ask the user to select the relevant datacenter:
