SOLID Saturday- Sheet Bending Animation

This SOLID Saturday we have the animation created with the help of SOLIDWORKS Motion Study. This post features the capability of SOLIDWORKS to create the external references which allows you to create the realistic animation like we can see here.

In this particular scenario we have added references of the sheet with respect to tool and die in sketch itself. It allows us to create animation with the motion of the sheet. Steps to perform are as follows:

  1. Create model of tool and die.
  2. Make assembly from that parts and locate them with required mates.
  3. Use insert component feature and click new part to create new part in assembly itself.
  4. While giving constraints you can reference those to the other components, which are tool and die in this example.
  5.  Add constraints in such a way that the sheet should act with reference to other two parts.
  6.  Setup the motion study and export the output.
