Scotch Yoke Mechanism

Hello everybody! I'd like to share a model on Scotch Yoke Mechanism that me and my team made  as a  project given for an internship.

In that I came across 3DEXPERIENCE software and get to learn new things about software.

What is Scotch Yoke Mechanism?
The Scotch Yoke also known as slotted link mechanism is a reciprocating motion mechanism, converting the linear motion of a slider into rotational motion, or vice versa. The piston or other reciprocating part is directly coupled to a sliding yoke with a slot that engages a pin on the rotating part. The location of the piston versus time is simple harmonic motion, i.e., a sine wave having constant amplitude and constant frequency, given a constant rotational speed.

Purpose
The application of a Scotch Yoke crank mechanism to a reciprocating internal combustion engine reduces the engine's size and weight and, with the sinusoidal piston motion it provides, it changes the combustion parameters and simplifies the requirements for perfect balancing of the engine.

Mechanical advantage
The advantage of scotch yoke mechanism over the slider crank mechanism is that it has lesser moving parts and smoother operation. This mechanism is most commonly used in control valve actuators in high pressure oil and gas pipelines.
