🚜 Engineering for Impact | Learning by Solving Real Problems 🌱

This project showcases a Groundnut (G-Nut) Thresher Machine fully designed and validated using SOLIDWORKS, with one clear goal: to support and empower local farming communities through smart, affordable engineering solutions.

🔧 Why SOLIDWORKS? Here’s how the tools made the difference:

⚙️ Assembly & Motion Design

The complete thresher system was built as a detailed assembly, integrating the pedal mechanism, chain drive, pulleys, blower, and frame. This made it possible to:

  • Understand real motion and power transmission
  • Check clearances and alignment
  • Ensure smooth human-powered operation before fabrication

📊 Simulation on the Pedal (SOLIDWORKS Simulation)

To guarantee safety and durability, Static Simulation was carried out on the pedal component:

  • Applied real-world loading conditions based on human pedaling force
  • Evaluated von Mises stress, displacement, and strain
  • Identified critical regions and optimized geometry for strength without unnecessary material

This step ensures the pedal can withstand repeated use in rural conditions—engineering confidence before manufacturing.

🎨 Advanced Surfacing for the Saddle

The bicycle saddle was modeled using SOLIDWORKS Surfacing tools, including:

  • Boundary Surfaces
  • Sweeps and guide curves
  • Mirror and Thicken features

Surfacing allowed smooth, ergonomic shapes that would be very difficult to achieve with solid features alone—proving how industrial design and engineering meet inside SOLIDWORKS.

🌍 Learning Beyond the Classroom
This project reflects how 3DEXPERIENCE EDU + SOLIDWORKS enable students and engineers to:

  • Learn by doing
  • Design with purpose
  • Apply simulation and advanced modeling to real societal challenges

💡 Engineering is most powerful when it solves real problems. Tools like SOLIDWORKS don’t just teach software—they teach thinking, validation, and impact.
