Startup Spotlight: Innovative energy storage by Kraftblock

The vision of the German start-up Kraftblock is to help the world achieve a completely sustainable energy future. Kraftblock provides a thermal-based storage system with recycled materials to capture excess renewable energy and industrial waste heat. The modular and portable storage technology collects energy for storage and distribute it where the customer needs it.

The company uses the 3DEXPERIENCE platform to design, simulate and visualize its whole system as a virtual twin, always tailored to their customers’ site-specific requirements for charging and discharging storage units. Creating a virtual twin of the system before physically building it has been invaluable to the company and its pilot customers.

The application Creative Experience (included in various roles on the 3DEXPERIENCE platform) was used to visualize the design of the storage units and the simulation data together in an appealing interactive VR experience to show interested customers or potential partners different scenarios in a more-or-less live application, including potential issues and how to resolve them.

1. scenario illustrated in Creative Experience:  Re-use and storage of industrial waste heat offers a climate-neutral energy source

2. scenario illustrated in Creative Experience: Buffering electrical energy as thermal energy is an economical and very efficient way

Kraftblock is supported by the 3DEXPERIENCE Lab through its incubator partner Industrial Future Hub, operated by Deutsche Messe Technology Academy.
