Our group was looking to redesign a face shield to keep the print time down while increasing the comfort and protection for the wearer. Many of the minimalist designs rely on a slim profile which isn't great for long periods of use as it concentrates the pressure. They also often ignore the need to protect from contaminants coming over the top of the shield. Our design seeks to find a balance in these issues through adding a thin shield that fills the gap between headband and shield, and only significantly increasing the material in the forehead region where the most pressure sits.
The face shield is made from two different pieces that can easily be taken apart to make it easier to sanitize effectively between uses. This also helped to keep the total material and printing time down. The total filament needed was 16.87g and took 1 hour 45 minutes to complete on a Prusa i3 MK3 printer.
