Finally got around to building an IDX Action Pad, so I don't have to go into ISD or GSD 🙂

Map ICEM Surf Lists to ICEM Design Experience Display Lists?

When will it be possible to map ICEM Surf Lists to Display Lists in IDX on Import of the ICEM DB? This works fine in ICEM Shape Design/Morphing. Note: will it be possible in the future to map or make common ISD and IDX Display Variants, to make switching between apps easier - don't want to have to keep creating custom sections/Action bars as they get wiped by admin when pinpoints are put on. Users are not confident enough to keep copying backed up CATSettings into Appdata\Local... (its a hidden

Study on tufted geometry

the goal is to understand how leather material will be perceived on a seat tufted surface with a diamond pattern. the input is a subdivision surface we could make a try with displacement mapping of a black and white picture. but it will be difficult to make variations and fine tune of the pattern and tuft. Also, the 3dxml is shared at the bottom of the post, for details - you need a licence with CATIA Visual Scripting app to open the model though. the overall logic is input the subdiv surface

I started to touch new function: "iso surface mesh". Here is a model about surface of equipotential between 2 points. the video is moving the points away. I have not calibrated the values to fit to any object. but if you calibrate it well, it corresponds to modelization of an equipotential of a dipole. I wish I had GGR/Xgen when I was a student... "iso surface mesh" is a world to explore in itself!

I’m currently testing the 3DEXPERIENCE platform as part of my transition to freelance work. Really liking the new snap options in 2025X as it makes selection so much more easy. One wish I would like is to change the crown menu activation to be the spacebar - so it is the same as in ICEM Surf and is easier to hit without looking at the keyboard - somehow hot switch (shift+TAB?) between Crown Menus. Wish request for ICEM Shape Design Frames

I have this operation request for IDX: I would like to be able to create Variants in Frames for the hide/show states, so I could use Frames as a pseudo Reference Manager. Nearly all the functions in IDX have Variants creation, such as OmniFillet: Is it also possible to add Frames/Display Lists to both Crown menu and keyboard as a shortcut, so I could assign 1 to Frame 1, 2 to Frame 2 etc. This would help in review situations or when comparing variants.

Selection in ICEM Design Experience 2025X-FD03

Hi, is it just me but in IDX 2025X-FD03 the selection using Ctrl key is reversed compared to the STEP 4 help. Ctrl + Left mouse button does window drag; Ctrl + Middle mouse button does trace select. Standard CATIA Rotation, Pan and Zoom are working so the buttons aren't reversed. All other menus such as Crown, Alt, Alt+Ctrl are fine too.

Question for the community hive mind. Regarding checking the quality of surfaces. Does your organisation have a different set of required tolerances (G0, G1, G2 etc) for a Concept Release (Styling Concept) versus a Final Surface Release? Without breaking confidentiality, can you share what those tolerances are? And Whose responsibility is it to check the surfaces comply with those requirements? Is it possible to export from icem to alias/catia and not die trying?

Hello everyone! We're having a little problem exporting files. We need to export files from Surf so they can be opened in Alias, but without losing editing capabilities. So far, the only format that's worked for us has been EDF, but the problem is that the names of the different lists that group the surfaces are modified (it shortens them). A colleague suggested using the option to export as Catia v5, but when I try to do so, oops! This window appears. Any help is appreciated, thanks in

Hi, I am a physicist working with my company www.generalphysicscorp.com. I want the DEMO CATIA files for all the parts of the tokamak. Heat exchange, cryogenics, steam cycle generation, breeding blanket, magnets, NBI, ECRF, and the building. I need the part files and the assemblies. I need to start manufacturing. SCENE MANAGER (NEW)

New Scene Manager is available on the of Display Option Panel. The Scene Manager is a global system of variants taking into account all variants as Environment, View, Lighting, BG Image, Material and Turn table. It is possible to create, store, delete and rename many scenes of variants. Therefore the user can totally switch between global scene in a few second. OBJECT MANAGER Assign

In Object Manager, additionally to the drag and drop, it is now possible to assign selected objects to an existing Part/Molecule from a current selection through a contextual menu for easier Surface management. After selecting objects in the Object Manager table or in the 3D, use the RMB contextual menu and choose New Part from selection to proceed. NBa volatile window will open to select the targetted Part/Molecule.Filter searches in parts and molecules (looks only for molecules)

MATERIAL Coupling Colors

As Diffuse and Ambient colors are often identical, the possibility to couple both is provided. Change is possible simultaneous now. If the link button is pressed after changing Diffuse, the equivalent Ambient color will be applied.

VARIANT SETS Save Discard modifications

GRAPHIC PROPERTIES Brush tool

New Brush Tool available in the toolbar. Use Brush Tool to quickly apply the same formatting, such as color, width, or material, to multiple pieces graphics. REFERENCE MANAGER Dimming option

Switch on Dimming for a dimmed display of the reference geometry so that is easier to recognize compared to the real geometry in the database. It is possible to specify the dimming factor and the default setting (Dimming On/Off) in Windows > Preferences > RefMan tab.

LIGHTING SHADOW PLANE Warning information

As material properties are not part of the Lighting menu, a warning message was added if no material is in use that casts shadows. Then it is needed to activate cast shadows to one material at least.

LIST Shortcut for detail

[Alt] +[D] is the new shorcut for Detail List. The user can use it for:creating a detail list switching back to source list

VIEW MOUSE MENU Shortcut deactivation (LA)

This option is available under the following variable: ICEMSURF_VIEW_MOUSE_MENU_SUPPRESS_OPTION In Preferences > View tab it is possible to deactivate the shortcut [SHIFT] + [ALT] for View Mouse Menu By default, the option is switched off, so that the Shortcut for View Mouse Menu is activate.

In Object Manager, it is now possible to create a Part or Molecule from a current selection through a contextual menu for easier Surface management. After selecting objects in the Object Manager table or in the 3D, use the RMB contextual menu and choose New Molecule from selection to proceed.

PLANE Starting plane per default

Y0-Plane is now active when starting ICEMSurf from scratch 2 ways to start:Without Starting DB: Parallel view / Y direction = Screen normal / View and plane highlighted accordingly With Starting DB: Perspective view / Y0 plane / only plane highlighted accordingly NB > When saving an icemdb file, View and Plane settings are saved in Starting Database for next opening.

LIGHTING No 3D GUI´s without shading

If no geometry is displayed in shaded mode, the light source symbols will not be displayed. NB > Exception : 3D GUI remain displayed while:Menu Display Options is activeMenu Lighting is activeScan data Facets are switched ON TIPS: In the case of using Scan Data, it is advised to check the option Shading With Scan .

MODIFY > PATCH > REFIT Duplicate capability

A Duplicate button can help now to copy & paste the Patch geometry before executing the Refit.

SCAN CHECK - Small Components

Introduce new functionality Small Components to scan checker (Diagnosis ->Check -> Scan) On check a scan is divided into topological components. The user can rate a number of facets to define a small component value in order to identify small components On Repair these small topological components could be deleted in one step afterward. This helps for example to remove irregularities which disturb the function "Fill Holes”.

SELECTION > HIGHLIGHT Keep shading option

A new option Shading lets now the user specify that the selection color should be retained or not after the selection of shaded surfaces or scans. Shading On (default): The Selection Highlight color for selected shaded surfaces is applied. MODIFY / CTRLP > Symmetry option

It is now possible to sculpt a geometry in a mid-symmetric way directly in CtrlP function. Activating the symmetry option allows the user to sculpt symmetrically to th Y0-plane or the current plane. This new option is available from Modify > Curve > CtrlPModify > Patch > CtrlP

SELECTION Scan position filters extended (K72)

4 modes are available for selecting a position on a scan: Scan Point: Selects the nearest facet point within the snap radius. Scan Edge: Selects the position on the nearest facet edge within the snap radius. Scan Facet: Selects the exact selection position. Scan Auto: Automatically selects the nearest point within the snap radius or the position on the edge or facet. Those modes give a better precision while creating geometries on top of a Scan Data. NB: No need K72 Scan Modeling to get this

CENTRELINE SYMMETRY New Two-Sided type

In Centreline Symmetry, a new type Two-sided is now available. Choosing the type One-sided behavior, the geometries will be matched to the Y0-plane or to the current plane, like previously. Choosing the type Two-sided, the geometries will be symmetrically continous from the Y0-plane or to the current plane Note: The right side is taken as reference. The symmetry plane was also moved to the top for being better identified. Parameters and setting are unchanged.

MOVE > DYNAMIC Contextual menu refresh

In the contextual menu of Dynamic (Move) the entry for Angle Snap from the Scale option has been removed An additional contextual menu is now made available for rotation, as there Angle Snap provides value

PATCH > MATCH Variants shortcuts through Menus

MATCH Variants are available through the Menus. It can be assigned to QFA or Function keys as shortcuts.

MODIFY CURVE / MODIFY SURFACE Convert - Auto Arc

When converting surfaces or curves, the user can now use the Auto Arc method for the parameterization.
