Session Abstract

I will focus on tips and workflows to create a functional 3D-printed part on the first try. The session will focus on 3 points: A) How to ensure the printability of a component. This will cover design rules that can help the printability of any component, considering stability, overhangs, and print-bed adhesion. B) How to create a durable component. This part will focus on the impact of print orientation on component's's structural integrity and how to handle multi-axial loads. C) How to handle tolerances. This part will focus on considering your 3DPrinter's´s properties in the design intent, including nozzle size or the overall geometric accuracy of your printer. With this information, anyone can design components with a tight fit or a loose fit between 3d Printed parts and hardware on the first try. As a bonus, I will discuss tools and strategies to optimize your 3D prints: Avoiding supports and using SW Simulation to optimize topology.
