Charles is the Chief Mechanical Engineer at Square Robot, leading the hardware design of HazLoc-certified robotic platforms for petrochemical operating environments. As a mechanical engineer at Bluefin Robotics, Charles developed tactical and visionary AUVs for all ranges of ocean depths and operational parameters. With over 10 years of mechanical design experience on underwater and land based robotic systems his focus is on developing robust and user-friendly autonomous vehicles for harsh environments. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Northeastern University. Outside the office his hobbies gravitate towards building apparatus that can launch him in the air, especially on skis
Kevin Hopkins is a senior mechanical engineer at Square Robot specializing in hardware and system design of autonomous underwater vehicles specific to hazardous locations in the petrochemical industry. Before working at Square Robot, he spent 8 years in subsea robotics developing commercial systems and leading mechanical design for a defense department program of record with Bluefin Robotics and General Dynamics. Kevin earned a BS in mechanical engineering from the University of Maine, an MS in ocean engineering from the University of Rhode Island, and is a licensed professional engineer in Massachusetts.
