Gian Paolo Bassi brings more than 25 years of experience in 3D, CAD, and PLM industries to Dassault Systèmes, SOLIDWORKS. As SVP of 3DEXPERIENCE Works & Customer Role Experience, Gian Paolo spearheads the development of SOLIDWORKS’ future product and technology strategies designed for the desktop and the cloud, and collaboration with the brand’s strong user community.

He most recently served as the vice president of research and development, where he was responsible for charting future product and technology strategies, including the development of the brand’s cloud applications.

Prior to SOLIDWORKS, Gian Paolo was the founder and CTO of RIWEBB where he oversaw the development of new technologies for the Mechanical and Architectural Design Automation industry, collaborating with companies like Dassault Systèmes. Prior to RIWEBB, Gian Paolo served as vice president and CTO of ImpactXoft, where he led the team developing functional modeling and collaboration applications which are now part of CATIA. In this position, he co-invented three of his five patents in functional modeling. He also served in the R&D organizations of companies like Computervision and think3.

Gian Paolo holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Bologna.

Barb Schmitz has spent the last 25 years covering the technology used in product development, first as an editor for various industry publications and web sites, and for the last seven years working as a Senior Brand Manager at SOLIDWORKS. She earned a Bachelor's degree in Journalism from Texas A&M University.

SOLIDWORKS CEO, DASSAULT SYSTÈMES

From day dreaming designs at IIT, Delhi lecture halls to building his own furniture, this avid woodwork artist knows design at the back of his hand. He has done it all at SOLIDWORKS. In his more than two decades at the company, Manish has led early development of translators, surfacing, modelling, sketcher, assembly, weldments, sheet metal, drawings, and more.

In his current role as CEO of SOLIDWORKS, Manish spearheads the synergy between R&D and the brand’s vibrant community of users. He also helps in accelerating the adoption of the continuously expanding SOLIDWORKS portfolio. As the Vice President of SOLIDWORKS R&D, he has played a key role in the development of SOLIDWORKS product and technology strategies.

Manish joined the SOLIDWORKS R&D team in 1998 as a Software Developer. He was a key contributor to the early developments of SOLIDWORKS in a variety of domains such as translators, surfacing, modelling, sketcher, assembly, weldments, sheet metal, drawings, and more. Manish is also a pioneer in the introduction of V6 technology in SOLIDWORKS and oversaw 3DEXPERIENCE development within SOLIDWORKS R&D. He has a significant role in leading the shift that has set SOLIDWORKS on a strong path of innovation toward what we regard to as the "future of design."

Manish holds a Bachelor of Technology degree in Mechanical Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi, and a master’s degree in Liberal Arts in Information Technology (Software Engineering) from Harvard University.

On the personal front, Manish has avid interest in cricket and he is the vice-captain of a cricket team. When he is not traveling, he plays every weekend in the Merrimack Cricket League in Boston with his squad. He is an artist and a woodworker too.

VP Strategy & Business Development, DASSAULT SYSTÈMES

Suchit Jain leads the Corporate Strategy, User Advocacy and Business Development for 3DEXPERIENCE Works at Dassault Systèmes SOLIDWORKS. His is working on the Cloud transformation and expansion of SOLIDWORKS business into 3DEXPERIENCE Works including product and sales strategies. He leads the User Advocacy team nurturing the large and passionate community SOLIDWORKS users. He is also leading the expansion of SOLIDWORKS design software into the hardware startups and the maker world including Fab labs and hardware incubator & accelerators.

Suchit actively participates in the startup ecosystems, which connects entrepreneurs with resources they need to launch and succeed immediately. He is a mentor at MassChallenge, advisory board member at Greentown Labs – the largest cleantech incubator in United States, and startup advisory board member at Society for Innovation & Entrepreneurship (SINE) at IIT Bombay in India.

Suchit holds a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology in Bombay, India. He also holds a master’s degree in Structural Mechanics from the University of Southern California, USA.
