Session Abstract
Simulation of electrical transformers presents key challenges: transport-induced dynamics that risk component damage, thermal management to ensure reliable oil cooling, and blast events driven by rapid pressure rises. As part of this work, we will also showcase EMAG analyses performed with CST Studio Suite to complement the structural and thermal studies. Technically, we begin with a frequency analysis to identify natural modes and avoid resonance issues. We then run explicit dynamic studies to evaluate transport scenarios and mitigation measures. For cooling, we perform CFD to assess oil flow distribution and heat removal under natural and forced convection conditions. For explosion-type events, we compare pressure–time loading, SPH (Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics), and CEL (Coupled Eulerian–Lagrangian) methods. The complete MODSIM workflow connects SOLIDWORKS design with 3DEXPERIENCE Simulation for model management, solving, and traceability—helping teams iterate faster, improve product quality, reduce time-to-market, and enhance competitiveness.
