Stay Up-to-date While Saving Time
Customers now have greater control over updates to their SOLIDWORKS apps. Beginning with R2025x FD04, updates will only be mandatory at major releases (e.g., R2026x GA). For minor releases, customers can decide whether to update to the latest version or continue with their current one.
The streamlined update process will swiftly update only 3DEXPERIENCE platform components, enabling you to continue designing with minimum interruption.
Two Update Paths — One Seamless Experience
During each minor Functional Delivery (FD) release, customers will be able to choose whether or not to update their SOLIDWORKS apps.
1. No update to SOLIDWORKS apps - Update 3DEXPERIENCE Platform Components Only
Ideal for customers who wish to continue working on their current SOLIDWORKS apps version.
Save time by updating only platform components.
2. Update 3DEXPERIENCE Platform Components and SOLIDWORKS Apps
Recommended for customers who want to take advantage of the latest enhancements for both SOLIDWORKS apps and the 3DEXPERIENCE platform components.
Key Benefits of the New Update Experience
Maintain productivity by continuing to work in your current SOLIDWORKS apps version without interrupting active projects.
Streamline software update planning to better align with operational schedules.

FAQs
Q1: If I choose “Update 3DEXPERIENCE platform components only,” can I later update my SOLIDWORKS Apps without waiting for the next Functional Delivery (FD) release?
A: Yes, however, if you want to update to the latest service pack of the SOLIDWORKS apps after having chosen to NOT update it during the FD process, you will need to uninstall and then reinstall 3DEXPERIENCE SOLIDWORKS.
Q2: Does this flexibility apply to major upgrades, such as R2026x GA?
A: No. For major releases, there will be only one upgrade path. The 3DEXPERIENCE platform components and SOLIDWORKS apps must be upgraded together.
