Session Abstract

This advanced Solidworks class is for designers ready to push beyond basic solid modeling and master complex surface-driven forms. Participants will learn professional workflows for building, refining, and managing advanced surfaces used in real-world products such as footwear, soft goods, sporting equipment, and consumer products with high aesthetic and functional demands. The class focuses on surface strategy, modeling methods, and form development—covering techniques for creating complex surface geometry, clean transitions, and detailed features. Through a live demonstration of modeling a sneaker, we will explore how to utilize surfacing and detailing tools including boundary surfaces, fills, lofts, sweeps, free form, wrap, curve-driven pattern, and trim/thicken workflows, while learning how to blend organic soft good material forms and layers with hard plastic, rubber, or foam components.
