The Bookmark Editor helps you to organize and manage your SOLIDWORKS CAD and non-CAD content. In this short video we explore how to create new bookmark folders and build out a bookmark structure.
Bookmark Folders are effectively tags that are added to your data, they are displayed in a folder like structure, enabling you to manage your data in a familiar way. This helps users when transitioning from windows folders or similar.
How To
In this video you will learn how to create a new bookmark (folder), add additional bookmarks to create a structure, and assign SOLIDWORKS designs to a bookmark using the 3DEXPERIENCE panel in SOLIDWORKS
Create a Folder Structure Using Bookmark Editor
AI-Based Step-by-Step Guide:
Based on the video, the instructions provided are for creating and managing bookmarks on the 3DEXPERIENCE platform. The video focuses on administrative tasks and organization within the platform.
Here are the step-by-step instructions for creating and managing bookmarks as shown in the video:
1. Creating a New Bookmark
- Open the Bookmark Editor app.
- Click "Create Bookmark" and give it a title.
- Choose a collaborative space to store the bookmark.
2. Managing Bookmarks
- Create Sub-Bookmarks: Right-click on a bookmark and select "New Bookmark" to create a sub-folder.
- Add a Description: You can add a description to any bookmark to explain its purpose.
- Set Maturity State: By default, new bookmarks are in a "Draft" state, visible only to you. To make them visible to others, change the maturity state to "In Work."
3. Saving Designs to Bookmarks
- When saving a design from SOLIDWORKS to 3DEXPERIENCE, you can choose to bookmark the parts, assemblies, or drawings directly.
Note: Designs created in SOLIDWORKS can be added to a Bookmark Folder at any time by using the option to "Add to Bookmark" from the Lifecycle and Collaboration tab in SOLIDWORKS.
💪 Best Practices:
Bookmark Maturity: Setting the Bookmark Maturity will change how Bookmarks are visible to other users on the 3DEXPERIENCE platform. A 'Draft' Bookmark will only be visible to the creator of the Bookmark, where as an 'In Work' Bookmark is visible to anyone who has access to the Collaborative Space that they are created in.
In the Collaborative Space Control Center, you can change the default setting so that all new Bookmarks are created in the 'In Work' State.
Default Bookmarks: Setting a Default Bookmark in SOLIDWORKS ensures that all CAD data is saved to the default Bookmark if no Bookmark is chosen during save. This ensures that your CAD data is always accessible through browsing Bookmarks.
