In our experience, there are two types of predominate model-based workflows: Workflow A who equates model-based definition (MBD) to an annotated model and a 3D PDF; and Workflow B who intentionally leverages annotation practices with the intention of increasing its potential for machine readability downstream of engineering and product definition. Within this presentation we are going to focus on the importance of crafting a comprehensive MBE strategy that focuses on annotation practices that are machine and human readable. Showing industry-standard compliant MBD as the foundational piece. We will showcase why Workflow A’s approach is a great first step, and why Workflow B’s approach is more valuable in the long-term. Additionally, we will talk about the essential strategic actions that must be at the top of your to-do list and how to measure the success of those actions as you embark on your journey to MBE implementation.
