3. Admin | Create a Place to Store Your 3D Data Using Collaborative Spaces

This video will show how to create new Collaborative Spaces to share content as well as adding members and assign corresponding permissions to these collaborative spaces.

As an administrator, your you will use the Platform Management Cockpit dashboard to access the Collaborative Spaces Control Center.

How To

In this video you will learn how to create a Collaborative Space for you and or your design team to use. Edit the settings and permissions of a Collaborative Space, and add members so that they can securely save and access their CAD data.

Create a Place to Store Your Design Data Using Collaborative Spaces

💪 Best Practices:

Limit the amount of Collaborative Spaces you use: Having many Collaborative can cause confusion for new users. We recommend that you limit the number of Collaborative Spaces created on your platform.

Collaborative Spaces control the access to data, each app can be set to work in the context of a Collaborative Space.
In general, Collaborative Spaces are defined by their access rights.

  • Common Space is the default space so that any user on the platform can always save data.
  • Collaborative Spaces can be set as Design or Standard Family types
    • Design - Collaborative Space storage can manage CAD data and any other kind of content
    • Standard - Collaborative Space storage can manage standard content content such as part catalogs

Collaborative Space Visibility and Member Access Settings

Visibility for EmployeesMember Credentials

Private:

  • Content visible to members only
  • Design Collaborative Spaces can be set as Private

Contributor:

  • Can view content
  • Can comment and interact with content

Protected:

  • Content with maturity 'Released' or 'Obsolete' visible to all users
  • Design Collaborative Spaces can be set as Protected

Author:

  • Can perform design tasks
    • Create/edit/delete content
  • Cannot Release data as part of a Lifecycle

Public

  • Content visible to all users
  • Design Collaborative Spaces can be set as Public
  • Standard Collaborative Spaces can only be set as Public

Leader/Owner

  • Can perform design tasks
  • Can perform administrative tasks
  • Can Release data as part of a Lifecycle

In certain scenarios you may want to add additional Collaborative Spaces, for example in the case where you are working on a new confidential project where a limited number need access, then creating a dedicated Collaborative Space may be required.
