In this post, you will find useful information on how to get started with the installation of DraftSight Connected and DraftSight Professional.

Prerequisites

  • Hardware and software requirements and certified workstations are available here. You can also use the Cloud Eligibility Checker to see if your system is compatible.
You can install and run DraftSight Connected on consumer systems that are not compatible, namely systems that do not have 3D Graphics accelerator with Open GL version. However, DraftSight Connected is optimized for Windows® 10 workstations and professional laptops.
  • DraftSight Connected requires 1.5 GB of disk space.

Notes

  • On non-Windows® systems like macOS, iOS, iPad, Chrome OS, or Android, you do not see the 3DEXPERIENCE DraftSight Premium role or 3DEXPERIENCE DraftSight Professional role in the Compass. DraftSight Connected and DraftSight Professional are only supported on Windows. On these systems, you can only use browser-based apps.
  • You cannot install the same major version of DraftSight Desktop and DraftSight Connected/DraftSight Professional on the same computer. For example, DraftSight Connected R2022x cannot be installed on the same computer as DraftSight Desktop 2022. You can install older versions of DraftSight Desktop alongside DraftSight Connected R2022x.

DraftSight Connected Installation

1. Log in to the public cloud that matches your licensing:

After logging in, you’re taken to your default DraftSight dashboard and the Welcome Page.

 2. To install DraftSight Connected, click on the Compass to show your Roles and Apps. Under My Roles, select 3DEXPERIENCE DraftSight Premium and then click on the DraftSight Connected app.

Note: If your license is for DraftSight Professional, the role will be 3DEXPERIENCE DraftSight Professional and the APP will be DraftSight Professional.

If your license is for DraftSight Mechanical, the role will be 3DEXPERIENCE DraftSight Mechanical and the APP will be DraftSight Connected.

 3. If this is the first platform app you’ve installed, it will ask you to download and then install the 3DEPXERIENCE Launcher. That’s the basic application that is needed to start all your installed apps.

Once the launcher is installed, you can click continue to install DraftSight Connected.

Select the option to install all roles containing DraftSight Connected.

 4. On the Install Screen the defaults are all generally good to accept, but you can check your environment compatibility with the Cloud Eligibility tool and specify the installation directory if needed.

The installation files will be downloaded and DraftSight will be installed on your computer.

 5. When the installation is complete you can launch DraftSight by navigating to it and clicking on it from the Compass again.

 6. To add it as a favorite, click on the Compass and scroll down to find the DraftSight Connected app under My Apps. Drag and drop it to the My Favorite Apps section for easy access.

 7. You can also add a desktop shortcut by clicking on the dropdown arrow of the app and selecting Create Desktop Shortcut.

Any of these methods may be used to launch and begin using DraftSight Connected.

 8. You can explore additional learning content, some related communities, and tips straight from the Welcome tab on your 3DEXPERIENCE DraftSight dashboard.
