1573 - Improving Surfacing Modeling Through 3D Sketch and Projected Curves

As one of the most important topics and techniques, surface modeling in SOLIDWORKS is a challenge, and it requires more effort and thoughtful workflow. Surface modeling always combines with 3D sketch and projected curves. The presenter would like to introduce different approaches combined with the 3D sketch and projected curves. The examples will include the indented handle, toothbrush, helmet, and yacht. This session is perfect for you if you are an intermediate SOLIDWORKS user and are looking for ways to improve and advance your surface modeling skills. The presenter will also include workflows such as these:

  • Creating indented and grip-like features using offset surface-projected curves-thickened cut combination commands
  • Creating 3D sketches of offset edges by using Offset on surface tools directly
  • Creating 3D sketches by intersecting two surfaces
  • Creating surface by using a converted 3D sketch
