Manufacturing considerations, especially injection-molding process and part design, are vital in the real world. However, it is a challenge for those who are new to injection molding or just starting their journey in CAD. The presenter would like to introduce a friendly workflow for educators to involve in those complex considerations quickly through a series of projects such as dental floss, remote control, ear-pod case, and pencil sharpener. This process begins by creating orthographic drawings, inserting drawings, using solid features to create the main body, split into multi-body, add shells, ribs, bosses, or hinges, then assembling entire parts altogether. Finally, through 3D printing, they will get access to the actual plastic parts in their hands to explore. If you’re an intermediate SOLIDWORKS user looking to involve injection molding quickly, or a STEM educator who would like to find a friendly workflow for your students, this session is absolutely for you!
