A circular economy aims to achieve positive, society-wide benefits. It involves the gradual decoupling of economic activity from the consumption of finite resources, with an overarching objective of designing waste out of the system. Underpinned by a transition to renewable energy sources, the circular economy model is based on three principles: 1. design out waste and pollution; 2. keep products and materials in use; and 3. regenerate natural systems. As such, this session will examine the role of injection molded plastics in a circular economy and how injection molding simulation can be used to eliminate or minimize waste and pollution and maximize a molded part's useful service life.
