Using the Physics Simulation Adapter in Process Apps | BEST PRACTICE

The Physics Simulation adapter allows the user to execute the simulation object in the Process Composer applications. Using this adapter, the user can change the input parameters such as dimensions, loads, and so on. The adapter can execute the simulation object and update the result parameters for further use in downstream adapters and also use results evaluation of the simulation object as the simulation process is executed.

Several options are available in the adapter on how to handle the simulation object during execution, the Performance, Duplication and Deletion settings. The user can select to directly use the mapped simulation object to save the simulation object and its results during execution. Optionally, the user can only store the plots and sensors from the simulation object without saving the results and the simulation object. The duplication and deletion of the simulation object can also be used to decouple and protect the original simulation object. This enables more flexibility for downstream usage of the duplicated simulation object and result evaluation.

This document also describes License Attenuation using the Physics Simulation adapter's ‘Iterative (Low disk usage)’ mode in Design of Experiments (DOE) exploration simulation process workflows. The license attenuation is the reduction of the license tokens consumption as the design exploration execution progresses. When running a design exploration study, the license cost can be reduced based on the number of design points computed. The license attenuation is active for specific adapter settings in a DOE exploration simulation process. The number of tokens and credits are initialized based on the consumption rate of a single simulation.
