Ways to find and launch SOLIDWORKS Connected:
Roles
- Open the 3DEXPERIENCE Platform in a browser and log into your account
- Click on the Compass at the top-left corner of the page
- Under ‘My Roles’, click ‘3DEXPERIENCE SOLIDWORKS
’ - Click SOLIDWORKS Connected
Note: If you have not installed SOLIDWORKS Connected on your machine, after clicking on SOLIDWORKS Connected, you will see a window like the one below to initiate the install. Click on ‘Install All Roles Containing SOLIDWORKS Connected’ and follow the prompts to complete the installation. After a successful installation, follow steps 1-4 to launch.
App Search
- Open the 3DEXPERIENCE Platform in a browser and log into your account
- Click on the Compass at the top-left corner of the page
- At the top of the left pane, click the ‘Search’ Icon (magnifying glass)
- Type in ‘SOLIDWORKS Connected’ in the Search bar
- Under ‘My’ Apps, you should see SOLIDWORKS connected. Click there to launch
Tip: Drag-and-Drop the SOLIDWORKS Connected app under ‘My Favorite Apps’ for easier access
Scroll down the list of apps
- Open the 3DEXPERIENCE Platform in a browser and log into your account
- Click on the Compass at the top-left corner of the page
- Under the ‘My Apps’ section, scroll down until you find the SOLIDWORKS Connected app. Note that the apps are in alphabetical order > click on SOLIDWORKS Connected
Create a Desktop Shortcut
- Open the 3DEXPERIENCE Platform in a browser and log into your account
- Click on the Compass at the top-left corner of the page
- At the top of the left pane, click the ‘Search’ Icon (magnifying glass)
- Type in ‘SOLIDWORKS Connected’ in the Search bar
- Under ‘My’ Apps, you should see SOLIDWORKS connected. Click on down-arrow next to SOLIDWORKS Connected
- Click on gray arrow icon to create desktop shortcut (see image below)
Create and Save Part
After you install and launch SOLIDWORKS, you can create a new model by:
- Browse to File > New
- Choose whether you want to create 'Part', 'Assembly', or 'Drawing' by clicking on the icons > click 'OK'
- Create your newest model
To import an existing SOLIDWORKS file into SOLIDWORKS Connected:
- Browse to File > Open from this PC
- Browse to the file location on your machine > Click 'Open'
- Edit model, if necessary
- Follow save steps below to save to the platform
NOTE: Please note that files created or edited in the 3DEXPERIENCE SOLIDWORKS Maker version cannot be opened in a SOLIDWORKS production version
To save the model:
- Browse to File > Save
- In the drop-down menu, choose the Collaborative Space to which you want to save the file\\
- Under Title, type the file name > Click 'Save'
This will initiate the save process, and your file will be saved to the 3DEXPERIENCE Platform.
To Save (Export) file to your local drive:
1. Browse to File > Click 'Export SOLIDWORKS Files'
2. Under 'Save to Folder', click 'Browse' to choose the save location > After choosing the folder, click 'Save to Folder'
3. Click 'Export'
