Asking Questions

If you have any questions about how to use 3DEXPERIENCE Works for Makers, we recommend that you first search in the 3DS Knowledge Base.

The 3DS Knowledge Base includes information from the official User Assistance ("Help") documentationProgram Directory ("Release Notes"), Questions & Answers, Best Practices and more.

If you do not find the relevant information for your queries in the Knowledge Base, you can ask a question in this community by following the steps below:

1. Create a question

Choose Question as the content type. Question will be your default and only choice, unless you request to become an author.

By using the Question content type, you can receive a notification when someone answers your question. You can also validate their answer.

2. Including video through SOLIDWORKS Rx

  1. SOLIDWORKS Rx can be used to record the video of the problem, which can allow others to understand your question and better assist you.
By default the Rx zip file is created in C:\\Users\\YourUserName\\Documents\\SW Log Files. You can extract the sldrx.wmv file and share the video in this community.

Remember that this is a public community, so you should avoid including confidential information.

  2. Additionally Rx analyzes and captures data from your system that can help DS technical support team to diagnose problems.
Please send the Rx zip file through private conversations to DS technical support team.

  3. Solidworks Rx can also be launched from the following location on your system:
    C:\\Program Files\\Common Files\\SOLIDWORKS Shared\\2023\\sldrx\\sldrx.exe

Launching Rx directly from the location can specifically be useful to collect data when SOLIDWORKS is crashing during launch.

For more information please refer SOLIDWORKS Rx help.

3. Use @people function when replying

If you are replying to a specific person, use the @people syntax. This allows the person to be notified.

4. Validate the answer

Once you get an answer to your question, validate the answer. This will help others who have the same question to find the answer quickly.
