Schedule Critical Path

Why

Stay aligned with Project Management standards by implementing ‘Critical Path’ Method

How     

You can now display the Critical Path in the Schedule view.

To display the Critical Path, use the ‘Display Preferences’ menu and select one of the following options:

  • Highlight Critical Path’, highlights in orange the critical tasks, milestones and dependencies. All other projects elements are displayed as is.

  • Filter Critical Path’, display only the tasks, milestones and dependencies involved in Critical Path. All other project elements are not displayed except for the ones which are the parents of the tasks involved in the Critical Path.

Note that Critical  Path is available for Enterprise Projects only.

                                                        

Project Planning Welcome Panel Updates

Why

Save time by accessing your favorites and recent projects from the Project Planning Welcome Panel 

How     

‘My Projects’ and ‘All Projects’ views are removed from the ‘Project Planning’ Welcome Panel, and being replaced by two new views:

Open Projects - allows you to search for a project and open it.

Recent Projects - displays your favorite projects, along with up to 20 recent projects.

                                                 


Manage Favorite Projects

Why

Save time by accessing your favorites projects directly from the Project Planning Welcome Panel

How     

You can now add projects to Favorites or remove projects from Favorites.

To do that use either:

  • ‘Add to Favorites’/ ‘Remove from Favorites’ Contextual Menu Button of Projects tiles in Recent Projects view
  • ‘Favorite’ Icon in the Project header

All Favorites Projects are listed in the ‘Recent Projects’ view in ‘Project Planning’ Welcome Panel, and have the Favorite Icon

Note that Favorite projects are specific to a user.

                                                        

Show Planned Dates in Properties Even When Actuals Are Set

Why

Improve productivity by always showing the Planned dates of a Task 

How     
  • Planned Start and Planned End dates are now displayed in the property panel of the task, regardless of the maturity states of the task.
  • Baselines Planned Start and Baseline Planned End dates are displayed as well in the property panel when selected in Timeline.

Bookmarks as Repository for File Upload

Why

Facilitate bookmark process by integrating bookmark in Project Planning app

How     

You can now specify a Bookmark Root or a Bookmark that will be the target for any uploaded document.

To support that a new field, called ‘Bookmark folder for File Upload’ is available in the Project’s property panel.


Restrict Assignees Access on Tasks

Why

Minimize potential misuse by controlling assignees access.

How     

New setting, ‘Restrict Assignee Access’ is now available on project level.
The setting is used to define the task assignee privileges, when the task assignee is a viewer or not a member of the project.
The setting can have one of the following values:

  • False:
    The task assignee can edit all task information except changing the owner.
    False is the value set automatically for existing projects.
  • True:
    The task assignee has limited modification access, and can edit only the following fields:
    Maturity State, Percent Complete, Deliverables, Attachments and Comments
    True is the default value for newly created projects.

Note that 'Restrict Assignee Access' is available for Enterprise Projects only.


Schedule Project at Project Start Date or Current Date

Why

Improve project planning by scheduling the project at Project Start Date.

How     

New setting, ‘Scheduling From Strategy’ is now available on project level.

The setting is used to define the scheduling Start Date, and can have one of the following values:

  • Start Date:
    In this case, the scheduler uses the Project Start Date as the start date for scheduling.

  • Current Date:
    In this case, the scheduler uses the Current Date as the start date for scheduling.
    Current Date is the default option when creating a project.


Create Commands in shortcut Menu for Content Creation

Why

Enhance productivity through quick creation of project elements using the shortcut menu.

How     

In Schedule view, create commands are available in the shortcut menus of Tasks and Projects:

  • For a project, you can create a project, task, milestone and dependency.

  • For a task, you can create a subtask.

New Tasks Table View

Why

Improve navigation and focus on tasks through a new ‘Table View’.

How     

New view named ‘Table view’ is now available in the Tasks tab under ‘Switch view’ menu.
The ‘Table View’ provides a more detailed view of tasks and allows you to view many more tasks in a single view.
You can sort the list of tasks by the various columns.



Tooltips Show Modified Information

Why

Improve productivity with quick access to more information in the tooltip.

How     

You can now see the modified description of a task or a milestone, as part of the popup tooltip when comparing schedule with baseline.
