"What is the best practice(s) to manage the new tool libraries?"
The standard usage is to use the search in database with the new too search. The search in database is faster than libraries.
Library is only used to classify your resource. If you don't need, use the search in database
"Since the search is so much faster use the search tool is preferred?"
Yes, exactly
"If you have imported all the tools from v5 will they be duplicated when importing processes?"
Yes, it's why we have "Replace resources" command. There is not uniq solution, it's important to understand the customer use cases, and etablish the good methodolgy.
"How to upgrade all tools in 3DX, if they are already released ?
Regarding the upgrade, if the resource is already RELEASED, user can upgrade the tool resource but can't save it as it is released.
AM I right? What is the best way on this case? Create a new revision and upgrade it? Or do we have a better scenario?"
2 solutions :
- the first one is to upgrade the tool with admin privilege. By this way the migration can be done with released resource
- second solution is to create a new revision of your resource. This last solution can only done manually
"Is it possible to export a list of Tools in excel from a CATProcess ?"
Yes, it's possible to export the resource configuration view in csv. Or if you want more details, you can modify the shopfloor documentation provided as sample in the 3DEXPERIENCE installation
"Regarding multiple stages of the holder, does 3DX compute toolpath based upon on all such stages? Or is it limited to 5 stages as in V5 for toolpath computation?"
In V5 and 3DEXPERIENCE, the holder is limited to 5 stages.
In V5, a tool assembly can be defined only with 1 holder. In 3DEXPERIENCE, a tool assembly can be composed with many holders (unlimited).
In 3DEXPERIENCE, the checking collisions in the tool path computation takes into account the user representation of the holder.
"Can you show importing a V5 tool catalog into 3DX, then how to use a tool from the imported catalog in 3DX?"
