Is it mandatory to use Library in R2022x ?
No the power of the new tool search panel is to search tools or tool assemblies directly in the 3DEXPERIENCE Database. We take benefit of this database to store all our cutting resources and allow users to find them thanks criteria.
The second possibility, which is not mandatory, is to create classification for these tools & assemblies such as By Shop floor, By Tool Providers, by Machine, By project, ..thanks Library. These additional capability is linked to the ENOVIA CCM role that is requested to create a Library. But it is optional.
Are Turning tool assemblies fully supported?
Yes, all tools including Probing are supported
Is there a tool to convert Catalogue automatically to a library?
Or how we should do it for customers using catalogues today?

In PPR I can not select more than about 50 items at a time to send to library.
More than 50 items I do not get the option send to library/catalogue
The 50 items limitation is a preference. You can change it in
Common Preferences > 2D 3D View Display > Selection> Selection > Limit Display of handles to
What happens if I send the same tool twice to the library by mistake?
You have a warning message : "This item is already added in the Library"
What happens to the current catalogues?
Will be accessible but not editable/updateable?
The current catalog can be used in ToolQuery of MachiningProcess.

If I have a PPR with only (Tool - holders - tool assemblies) can I select them all and send to the library ?
Yes , it is the right way to create new Library from old catalogs
Do you mean it is enough to send only tool assemblies?
Yes, if your programmers are only making queries on assembly, it is enough to send only them in Library
We have a lot of machining processes and therefore about 600 tool queries in the MOs.
Is there a way to migrate the tool queries that refer to a catalog to the library query, or do I have to edit all queries manually?
Today the migration is only manual.
As far as I understand this new role is free of charge?
No this new role is not free of charge but a single license can be used in your company to create the library then Programmers (to search) don't need to have this license
Is there API support to populate a library via a macro?
No there is no API
Will the library also be used in CAD in the future instead of catalog?
Yes, in the future catalog will be deprecated for all 3DEXPERIENCE App
