The Engineering Templates app lets you efficiently create the operations that duplicate and reference database components (such as products, simulations, or parts). It enables the reuse of pre-existing components through adaptation of mechanisms, enabling them to fit new purposes within a predefined scope. Engineering templates are similar to User Defined Feature and Power Copy functions, but operate on a larger scale:

•Engineering templates run based on a list of user-defined actions such as Duplicate/Replace/Reuse. The user describes the action to perform during instantiation for each duplicated root.

•Parameters of duplicated components can be exposed so their value is changed on instantiation.

•Whole components can be replaced on instantiation.

In Delmia Machining Engineering Templates can be used to quickly instantiate a new predefined manufacturing cell containing a machine, standard set of tools, machining accessories (e.g. vice, chuck, etc.), raw stock and machining operations. This allows users to save time by avoiding repetitive tasks when creating a new program.
